The Tongue Can Be Your Worst Enemy

When I do hear from my niece it was a forward. I am not irregular touch with her and wish to hear about how she is doing but given this forward, if she is heeding any of its advice, then she should be well on track.

The Tongue Can Be Your Worst Enemy

Today my niece had much to say

Her email warned of what negative words can convey

Evils can be derived from words spoken loosely

Things said in frustration, ill temper or just thoughtlessly

Once my grandmother had warned me the same

Never speak unkindly of another person’s name

Gigi’s letter reminded me of words from our Lord

Unleashing the tongue is like wielding a double edge sword

Every word has rippling effects that can spread afar

Control your tongue and you’ll control who you are

And once the uttered word is aimlessly let out

No one can withdraw it or turn it about

Be careful what you say cause it may come true

Every spoken word can effect the things that you do

You repeatedly told a kid he’ll turnout to be nothing

One day he killed your child and you’re at his court hearing

Unable to find a spouse you cried out I must have a man

Reggie came along with a few quirks but you accepted what you can

When only a few years had past he started abusing you

Only you don’t believe in divorce so what’s there to do

Ranting about how tall you were and can’t go anywhere

Some time later you were in an accident and now a wheel chair

Too little time at home to do all you want to do

Employer called, they’re downsizing and they’re firing you

Now thoughts become words then actions, habits, character then destiny

Every negative thought may develop you into something ugly

Make a conscious plan to have positive thoughts and clean your slate

You might have heard this plan before in Philippians 4:8
