The Uncertain Dads

There are people who assume the responsibility of quasi parenting kids. It may be a school teacher, a reverend in the church, scout leader, a stranger a friend in your neighborhood. Who ever they may be, their influence can be ever lasting.

But sometimes we move away and they do too and we never know how to reconnect to these vital people who once filled our lives with joy. For all those people who once had such a friend

The Uncertain Dads

There is a gentleman who years ago befriended me

He gave me advice and taught me to be

Earnest in every thing that I say and do

Unfeigned in love, unafraid to be true

Now I’ve grown and I owe him so much

Can’t find him now, we never kept in touch

Even the old home where he occupied

Resembles desertion like care had died

The neighbors said he’d long moved away

And many others like me came in similar dismay

Inquiring of the old gentleman’s whereabouts

No one knows it seems he’d gone on many routes

Delivering the same message to young minds everywhere

And evangelizing God’s glory year after year

Don’t know where he is but he was the closest thing to a dad

So Happy Father’s Day to the one who helped when I was a lad
