The Other Side Of The Track

A long time ago I saw a movie “The Long Search”, I hope I’m right with the name. Actually it was a documentary series. It was about the different religion around the globe and it culminated with an analogy that has stayed with me. The narrator related religions and different climber trying to reach one common goal, the top of the mountain. He showed each climber using different tools to get there but all headed in the same direction. I used this analagy in a more bilateral way as I draw and reference between my father and I headed down the railroad trak. We are walking on opposite side and sometimes lose sight of each other but still maintaining the same direction.

Do you know that two people may walk on opposite sides of
A track but are still headed in the same
Direction

The Other Side Of The Track

There is more thAt makes us alike than sets us a part

How many things you’D taught me from the very start

Even though these things aRe not obvious, I watch as I grew

Open my way to yours and Imitated what you do

Today I can recall you tAught me how to cross a busy street

How to choose what shoes are best to wear oN my feet

Evils loom around so don’t Just leave work unattended

Repair breaks early and ensure all Our tears are mended

Soft answers, you said, carry away wratH

Intelligent people shouldN’t find idle talk a laugh

Dumb pretence giveS you the advantage to learn much more

Elevate with dignity when yOu break curtains and take the floor

Others should Never know the cards you were played

Fix discounts by bartering fOr less than others paid

There is never a time to boast of oUr meaningless achievements

Hold off fRom making anxious commitments

Enjoy cricket, beFriend the pacer, he controls the game

Though in life no one is more importAnt, treat all people the same

Remember who your are and be True to yourself

Always eat from Home,  exercise daily and look after your health

Cause thesE and other things you taught say we’re going the same way

Kind Dad, thanks for youR direction. Have a Happy Father’s Day!
