Hard Working Dad

How many days you were up at the crack of dawn

And before I could rise from bed you were already gone

Returning to a day’s work that keeps you until late

Dedicated to keeping food on our plate

We disappoint sometimes but you forgive

On divine teachings you taught us to live

Reneging never to show us your endless love

Keeping discipline when needed and when needed, hand in glove

I watch as mother smiled when she looked into your eyes

Never an unkind word or a need to apologize

Got no memory of a time when there was no joy

Delight you brought us since I was a very young boy

Any wrongs were made right in your calming way
