COPE - Cut Out Problems Effectively

This was inspired from the speech of Minister Dr. Ester Bywer-Suckoo when delivering her response to the Budget Speech of Prime Minister David Thompson. Dr. Suckoo is a very articulate lady who goes straight for the juglar with the precision of a surgeon. She is a beautiful lady by appearance but also by character. I was happy to have heard her speech.

COPECut Out Problems Effectively

Can’t understand when COPE became a bad word

Unable to appreciate what I recently heard

There is so much we must do to cut and contrive

Our Nation needs a healing to stay alive

Unlike the lip service for bipartisanship by the Opposition

There is a real need to bring all resources together in synchronize union

Partnerships with the people from this very soil

Reward our citizens when with their sweat they toil

Opportune is this time to train our peoples needs

Bajans who like our forefathers will sow the seeds

Learn a trade, build a business or volunteer in their community

Encourage young people to share in times of plenty

Make good decisions, increase your skills and be generally pep

Stop and look where you are before your next step

Efficiency will come if we introspect

Fear not victimization and learn from retrospect

Forward thinking and trimming off the fat

Earns a future, rides the recession and gives a place to hang our hat

Cries of “Captain this ship is sinking” are panicky, with futile outcome

This ship will float safely with “All hands on deck” and not just some

Improved conditions in the work place is a dire must

Very many are force to work in decrepit buildings, toxicity and dust

Everyone should be singing from the same page with Pride and Nationhood

Lyrics now over 300 years but still just as good

You dealt us lemons but we love lemonade!
