Happy 70th Birthday

I was encouraged to write this acrostic poem when my sister indicated how well this lady received my card sent to her husband who was in the hospital. She said in jest that she was looking forward to receiving a card too but for her 70th birthday.
Psalm 90:10
10The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Happy 70th Birthday

Coming up here in my neighborhood

A lady at the corner did all that she could

Raised up her girls mostly on her own

Made them welcome years after they were long grown

Every time I saw her she seemed always rushed

Never idle or frolicking always pleasantly hushed

Can’t believe this slim formed lady is as old as she says

Lord I know she’d never lie about her number of days

And yet your faithful servant hardly seems to be

Retirement age and by her constant rush, ready.

Kind are the years to her at threescore years and ten

Enjoy this and many other Birthdays My Sister in Christ, Carmen
