Can't Get A Tail

Perhaps I was listening too closely but I thought I heard the host said he “Can’t get a tail”. I know it was his play on the Bajan’s use of this construction to mean they can get nothing but I think the caller was being more literal and meant the cow’s tail. Funny that all this conversation is happening when the Minister is appealing for people to reduce the pestulance of the monkeys on the island by killing them and removing the tails for bounty. What Monkey Business.

Can’t Get A Tail

Cut back I hear, but why?

All I see is others getting by

No belts tight and they’re eating cow head

There is no motivation to get out of bed

Got no cell phone and no TV

Eggs and bacon for breakfast isn’t for me

The Minister recently announced to the public

Ambush a primate and get a bounty for it

Tails can be sold back to the Government

A poor man like me now got a chance for fulfillment

I can wrestle with the monkey business until I prevail

Licks and bites until he gives in cause I Can’t Get A Tail
