Easter day, bright and windy

Ladybirds and butterflies about me

Its blessed I know for at this time of the year

Lamb of God shed His blood for sinners everywhere

And on the cross He never wept or cried

Made gestures of glower but in His last breaths tried

Allaying the guilt of all at Mount Calvary  

Showing compassion even for the Roman army

And when He heard the thief to His right

Bid Him “Remember me” in His Kingdom tonight

All was forgiven and with Jesus he would belong

Christ demonstrated the wages of right and wrong

He left us clear examples of the way we must live

The support to each other and how we must forgive

He said “It is finished” meaning His mission here on earth

And now as the comforter, the resurrected , He has new worth

Now He holds the keys to Heaven’s doors to let us in

In His Holy Spirit He has greater dominion over sin
