The Unconscionable Act

I don’t like when large companies take advantage of the majority because we can do no better.

I was asked to write on this new regulation by a local company. It was not a paid contract to write but I have included it amongst my few contractual poems posted since it is one I wanted to share with the public too.

The Unconscionable Act

Too many people just sit there

Horrified by circumstances still showing no care

Egged on by their disgust but still nothing they do

Unconscionable acts they deplored just like me and you

Now when these acts become far reaching

Companies with monopolies your rights start breaching

Or just making life more difficult for citizens

Not showing a social conscience for Bajans

Such acts should be published with great outcry

Criticized by our Government who may with sanctions apply

Interruptive measures to halt these monopolies

Organizing their onerous acts upon communities

No company should have the right to threaten disconnect

At the slightest sign of non payment without warning yet

Bar you from a critical service unbeknownst to you

Leaving Individuals More Exhausted with interest that accrue

Even when their bills never arrived or come late

All is not forgiven and your payment can’t wait

Call them right away and wait the hours on the phone

They expect you to call but if it’s any consolation, you’re not alone
