That's What Friends Are For

The scenario was set with a theme that was very familiar. I have often been the subject of a promotion, selected from among my friends. I think that true friendship will rise above the pettiness and you might find it very rewarding to work with friends who will always “got your back”

That’s What Friends Are For

Two ladies were friends from childhood

Homes were adjacent to each other in their neighborhood

And started school on the very same day

Together they would walk, run, have fun and play

Secondary school was the very same

Will sit in the same class and at break play the same game

How strange to find they got work in the same place

And perform with excellence and at astounding pace

Then one promotion came which would set them apart

Friends for ever soon broke each others heart

Rows broke out for the slightest thing

Insubordinate conduct and deliberate “boss picking”

Everything one did the other would criticize

Nasty insults to other staff and even nastier lies

Deliberately the one girl would come to work late

Showed off to the others and her friend’s authority berate

And unknown to her, her once friend behind her back

Refused to report good efforts and that her output never lack

Employees when given opportunity to choose

First would be all others so her old friend would lose

On that day in History with Barbados’ first tremors

Rumblings scared them together, now there’re both supervisors
