Jeanette Layne-Clark

Sorry friends, I meant no insult by the misspelling of her name. Just caught the CBC News are noticed my terrible blunder. I hope the following serve to correct and apologize for my earlier contribution.

Jeanette Layne-Clark

Journey dear friend to that final place

Eternally resting in our Savior’s embrace

And know that you have done your part

Notarized your place in Barbados’ heart

Every Bajan has met you, though some indirectly

They have benefitted in some way from your versatility

The many literary gifts you left behind

Every short story, column, play, poem, all works refined

Lots of journalists and reporters are better because

Always you’d point out their mishaps and literary flaws

You kept focus on the Nations current ills

Noticed our vernacular slips and our procedural spills

Edges were made smooth by your welcomed humor

Comical satire and your personable demeanor

Lickmout Lou wud ‘rite like she did one uh we

And understood everyone whether proletariat or celebrity

Rest now dear friend and know that we’ll be

Keeping the spirit of your works and treasuring your legacy
