Wouldn't Trade..

There is no season in the year that I enjoy more than the Christmas Season. When I remember what Christmas was, I realize that I have already traded the significance of the season.

All the decorations and the newness and the gifts, the actual celebrations take on greater importance than the realization that God sent His only son on earth that he might die for our sins. A sacrifice that led to Him bearing unthinkable pain.

Wouldn’t Trade

White painted guard wall and freshly groomed garden

Ornaments placed around  with tinsel and garland

Unusual lights flickering at the doorway

Lights that dance to music and lights that just stay

Day time music from the old record player

Night time compact disc from your favorite singer

There is caroling at church and at the community centre

Trucks pass with Santa and gifts handed out after

Roads in the neighborhood were recently tarred

Asphalt lets you ride and pitch when it gets really hard

Donkey carts are supported with car tires

Everything back then exceeded all your desires
