Some Distant Friends

I spent every day for almost 20 years with people I never really got to know. We waste so much time when we never get to know the people who are in our closest proximity, like neighbors or co-workers. Later in life, these people are the anodes of our lives and may offer a different perspective about us, as an observer, that we would welcome hearing.

Some Distant Friends

Bells chiming far away were brought in the wind sweetly

Reminding me of how our friendship used to be

You in the distance but friendly the same

Delightfully send good wishes when you hear my name

Every time I think of the time I spent

Never stopping to chat and off to work I went

Something says there was lost opportunity

For I might have shown more sincerity

Right now I look forward and this I say

I’m the engineer of the future as of today

End all the “should have” and start the “I will”

No more “I Can’t”, I’ll say “I can” until

Doing becomes as easy as spreading this cheer

Seasons Greetings to you and have a Prosperous New Year
