Playing Santa

In the quiet of the early morning, the last working day leading up to Christmas, I would sneak in and place a gift on the desk of my staff and enjoy their responses when they arrived to work. Not everyone is as thrilled by the gesture but those that are give enough delight to outweigh any negative responses. Christmas is by far the happiest time of the year

Playing Santa

People react very differently

Last time I got to work very early

And place a gift on desk of staff who’ll be there

Yule tide is my favorite time of the year

I like to hear their varied surprise

Notice their expressions and the joy in their eyes

Giving is only special when others show glee

So often I never let them know it was from me

And to throw them off I might give myself one too

Now that might ensure they never have a clue

Then quietly some people may come and say

A private thank you and wish me a Happy Christmas Day!
