Didn't Learn To Wrap

One of the great things about giving is the suspense that the wrappings conceal. The idea of gift wrapping isn’t just to look good but also to throw the recipient off. This is why; people in trying to guess will shake the gift. If you can’t wrap then you are robbing the custom of giving and losing one of the most joyful times for the giver and the receiver. Learn to wrap your gift but if you can’t, let someone who can, do it for you.

Didn’t Learn To Wrap

Dropped off the bottle of wine

I put it in the first bag I could find

Delivered a large fruit basket

No frills, just the wicker which held it

The full size soccer ball

Looked plain with no gift wrap at all

Eyes turned when I walked in

A stuff toy for my colleague had no wrapping

Running train set there under the tree

No box or cover, exposed for all to see

The edges of the book binding were much too hard

On the way home I should have bought a box of card

With all the gifts I decided to buy

Really I should have given them wrapping but I

After all these years still find it too hard

Perhaps I should send them a Merry Christmas card
