Delicious Jug

My dad makes the Jug Jug in my home for Christmas. He has perfected the right blend of ingredients and his recipe is loved by even those who claim to dislike Jug Jug. We usually boast of his perfection and as a consequence we have less to share between us since there are many more mouths to feed each year as word gets out. What used to last the family into the new year only takes us through Christmas Day. Last year, the recipe was changed somewhat to embrace my new eating habits but my family didn’t enjoy it as much even though they still thought it was better than any other they knew. This year my pot is cooking separately.

Delicious Jug

Don’t feel like Christmas without it

Every dish has a side plate on which it’ll sit

Like a delicacy, Bajans will request

It’s one of the foods Bajans like best

Can’t tell how to prepare it, it’s a mystery

I usually have to get some prepared by my Daddy

Once a friend tasted some from him, now she always needs more

Usually I stash away extras, or at least I did before

Since I got ill my dad changed his blend

Just the things I can eat now, not those loved by my friend

Using his expertise he still managed to create

Great tasting Jug Jug, the second best I ever ate
