Today No Fireworks

This is a note of how I predicted my Independence Day was going to be. Some of you may remember that I don’t switch my computer on to publish anything on Sundays. Anything posted would have be time stamped, you know, that little feature when we can ask the computer to post an entry at the date and time we desire. What a great feature!

I think one of the best features on a computer is the undo button

Today No Fireworks

Today as I stay behind these walls

One thing is obvious, I have no calls

Days long ago my phone would ring

And friends would invite me to everything

Yesteryears we celebrated with pyrotechnics

Nowadays this is wasteful and bad economics

Our parade has also faded into oblivion

From this year we will no longer parade at the Garrison

I’m not sure what influenced the road we now take

Remember last year, on the Eve, there was an earthquake

Eruption must have shook a new awareness

Wizen up the planners about our contra progress

Opened our eyes to more meaningful trends

Regretfully though, I only heard a few of my friends

Kept listening and hoping and prayed they were okay

So for all who see this I wish you a Happy Independence Day
