The Perennial Friend

Today is the Independence of our country Barbados but is also the Birthday of a true friend. She has been consistently there for me when I needed her. I don’t remember her ever saying no and she always seem to jump to help

She is the kind of friend I strive to be.

The Perennial Friend

There is not much I have to give

How helpless I feel by this life I live

Every wish I would grant you and every dream come true

Peace and love dear friend I would give to you

Every since I was young you would politely

Respect my opinion and listen attentively

Even when we were in a room in a crowd

Nothing distracted you from me though the room was loud

Never once did you make me feel lonely

I was always noticed when you were with me

A more perennial friend I would never know

Looking my way and lovingly show

Friends stand by each other through thick and thin

Regardless to the ills friendship always win

I am glad we met and after these years that we

Enjoy chatting, laughing and each others company

Now I may give nothing but you never worry

Dear Lord thank you for giving my friend to me
