Deighton H Maynard

Some people have lasting influences in your life and this gentleman, my old school, through his many instructions in Literature, Cadets and Hockey, played and irreplaceable role in all our lives.

I wish him all God’s Blessings!

Dear Sir, I wish I could be there tonight, I’m sorry

Especially since you taught me to never be an absentee

I am very grateful for the life lessons those school years

Grateful you put steel in my spine to dispel my fears

Honesty you told me can be my strongest asset

Thieves can be trusted but liars bring greater regret

On many days you reminded me to watch each word

Never speak unless I had something that must be heard

How “A wise man speaks when he has something to say

Many fools think just saying something is okay

And those resounding words you often used

You should not think” always had me a bit confused

Now thankfully I understand the rationale of certainty

And live my life with unregretful guarantee

Recalling 3C, Hockey, Cadets and many bold pranks

Deighton H Maynard I salute with honour and much thanks
