Deighton H Maynard - Pt.2

I wrote this on behalf of the many Combermerians who share my sentiments.

I don’t think that Mr. Maynard is going to get to see this in time for his Honour Dinner but when he does, may God be with him

Deighton H Maynard

Dir Sir, I know that anyone here has a treasured memory

Everyone can recall at least one thing they hold dearly

I am just another of thousands of men

Given the fortune of calling you teacher and friend

Hockey and Cadets were sweet additions to try

The Merchant of Venice and so too Catcher in the Rye

Our 3C to 5C years we thought were the best

Now in hindsight your consul ensured our every success

Having a good foundation prepared us for what was ahead

My life without those years may have been ruins instead

And when I look around this island’s stages and bleachers

You helped mold our young followers into great leaders

Now I remember your fervent humility

And how in the spotlight you show modesty

Right now allow us to express what in our hearts is true

Deighton H Maynard we honourably salute you
