Her Jack Russell

There is much trauma to come home and discover that one of you best friends and companions for years suffered an attack and was now helpless on the floor, gasping for air and clinging to life. All we try to do hurriedly, everything seems to be happening too slow and you feel as if time is slipping away. My friends loved their dog and would have done

Her Jack Russell

How it all started I don’t know

Every dog looked on but who cast the first blow

Right when she opened the back door

Joint attack left Temar helpless on the floor

And she rushed over to the nearest vet

Could be choosy with the attention Temar needed to get

Kept thinking if only I had been there

Regretting that I had to be elsewhere

Unable to change it now so I was hoping for the best

Some miracle, this suffering to arrest

So we were home again but questionably

Emergency was over prematurely

Lacerations were treated but Temar had more to defeat

Laying there with her, Temar’s heart took its final beat
