The Closing Ceremony

Seeing the many participants of the closing ceremony last night, I am once again impressed by the ease at which people from various nations, races and ages can come together and may splendor with their synchrony.

It is hard to have to wait another 4 years to see this potential for peace but it gives us hopes for tomorrow.

The Closing Ceremony

Tonight there were some special treats

Highlights from the games and the athletes

Excitement at the close of the Beijing Olympics

Colorful splendor of performers and pyrotechnics

Lights flashing and people dancing in synchrony

Overhead acrobatics and singers in harmony

Such a collage of Nations coming together

In peaceful delight and total surrender

Nations had put aside their current conflicts

Grouped as one in these games at the 29th Olympics

Chinese rock stars performing with the English too

Entertaining and some making their international debut

Recoding artistes sung next to the likes of Jackie Chan

Even with this tone deaf, adopted American

Music may have been foreign but we can all appreciate

Our Chinese brothers delivered a superior night to celebrate

No one witnessing it didn’t think it was out of sight

You will agree The Closing Ceremony brought much delight
