Plastic Fruit

The Plastic Fruit though a material thing is also metaphorical of the wastages that we do spending on useless things and our questionable habits.

Plastic Fruit

People continue to perplex me

Like going to the beach for sun and hiding in canopy

All the money they spend on things that are pointless

So as to show off themselves as bursting with success

The vehicles that guzzle gas and can go 200mph or more

In highways like ours with speed limits 60mph or lower

Cable TV featuring athletes from other nations

Failures to have coverage of our medaling West Indians

Regional heads making decisions with no regards

Unilaterally with no alliance of what’s on the opposition’s cards

I’m sorry that our progress suffers dry rot at the root

That Bajans still decorate dinner tables with Plastic Fruit
