This Great Milestone

They told me how it was going to be

How old it’ll feel when you’ve turned 50

It would mean being measured for false teeth

Showing off smiles when you’re feeling grief

Getting up 10’s of times at night

Running to the Lou ‘til your bladder feels right

Eating tasteless foods to watch your health

Arranging priorities, setting aside dreams of wealth

They told of how hard it would be to walk

Making long pauses when you try to talk

It would be very difficult for you to hear

Loud talkers you would be creating everywhere

Eyes would follow you across the room

Suspicious of your pending doom

They’ll feel to applaud when you manage to rise to your feet

Ovations for remedial task would be bitter sweet

None of this is evident as your body has shown

Even looks and feels youthful on This Great Milestone
