My First Steps

Walking is one of those experience most of all go through at least one time in our lives. There is more to learning to walk than merely the ambulation of our leg muscles. Learning to get back up when we fall and learning to keep our balance is a life long lesson.

My First Steps

Memories are lost and past away

Years erased when I stumbled with a sway

Feet were unsure and need a helping hand

I can’t remember when I first learnt to stand

Regrets that they didn’t take lasting photos

Special reminders of me buckling my toes

This had all happened once before

So long ago and I never imagine an encore

The brain surgery was unsuccessful and left me

Every movement I once perfected was now shaky

Putting me back together again seemed humanly impossible

Stepping on my own again was nothing short of a miracle
