I watched many men try to get it right and few are able to marry work with family life. They are generally good and one and not the other and regrettable the failing in one result in some level in overall failings. In fact it is better to have a passing grade in both that to be a miserable failure at one with good passing marks in the other.  I praise those fathers who have manage to balance their responsibilities in such a way that neither suffers.
