The Long Day

I have been lonely and surrounded by memories which seem to be scattered and no longer chronologically placed in the doldrums of my mind. When I search for the ones that brought me joy, I find dark times. I miss many things in life but more, I miss remembering you the way I knew

The Long Day

The days seem dismal and have grown long

How could I have forgotten our special song

Emotions now melted into a crusted pie

Loneliness eclipses the apple of my eye

Obscurity replaces my once radiant thought

Now I grope in unhinged memories to places  I never ought

Going far back to times and places so far away

Dangerous times when our emotions would always stray

And the further I go the more I see

You are now only a distant memory
