Turning Thirty Today

I keep telling her about growing old since I’ve experience it many years now. I want her to have good expectations and not be fooled by others who may not be as realistic.

I thought I would get the jump on them so I had been telling her to expect these things for sometime now.  She has been going to gym and dieting to help stop the aging clock but today, the clock turns to the big 3. I wish her a very Happy Birthday! She has been my closest friend for almost 10 years and certainly the most constant person in my life over these years. It’s so easy to call her Reds, especially when her name is so hard to remember.

Turning Thirty Today

Today you’ll be turning the big 3

Unable to rely on your memory

Redoing the things you had already done

Now you’re too old to have any fun

It’s the signal that you’ll be losing your teeth

Now it’s time for eye checks and to turn a new leaf

Growing old changes the colour of your skin

Turns that beautiful smile into an ugly grin

Have you looked in the mirror this morning

It would have given you an early warning

Rushing at this age may crack a bone

They shouldn’t leave you in the house too long alone

You’ll need a stick soon to maneuver your room

Take a grip meanwhile with the old house broom

On those days when you can’t get from the chair

Don’t cry, call for help to raise your large derrière

And if you are fitter and not feeling this way

You should have a very Happy 30th Birthday
