Detectives Got Acquitted

This is not a true representation of my feelings of the outcome in the recent trial for the killers of Sean Bell but rather my account of what should be, generally with the kind of cases that involve indiscriminate shooting. I saw many such shootings in my life time and they always arouse great protest by the Blacks in America.  With all the training that the NYPD and other police departments all over America get, how is it possible not to know that gun fire is not being returned. And why are police still shooting to kill especially when they open fire.

Detectives Got Acquitted

Drinks had been flowing but it was time to go

Early that morning Sean and friends left his bachelor’s show

They had been enjoying themselves at the Kalua Club

Eager now though to make Sean Nicole’s hub

Coming out that Club in Jamaica, Queen’s that night

There was an outburst of shooting like a gun fight

It was hard to tell what had been going on

Victims of the melee were soon laying down

Every one was scampering except Sean and friends

Shots had swept across their bodies in blazing trends

Got 50 in total and they never returned one

Once they tried they realized they could wake Sean

The 3 detectives had fired indiscriminately

A fear for their lives was the claim of their attorney

Cops in New York have had fear no doubt

Queens is not unusual and can’t be left out

Unnecessary or excessive force though can’t go free

It’s not lawful and such police should be found guilty

They can’t shoot us down in the streets like rats

Then plead innocence when every it involves blacks

Especially not when just cause is clearly not there

Detectives should be trained to discern reasons for fear
