more apparent that soldiers returning home with seemingly undamaged bodies have
sustained more traumatic injuries than we want to acknowledge. Statistics reveal over 6,000 suicides from

Post Traumatic Stress Disorders Patriotic men and women who fought with loyalty Overseas to preserve a country’s sovereignty Soldiers returned home but unaware The country they fought for will show little care They battled different races of many enemies Raided the terrorists from many countries And never expected that they will be on homeland Unable to live productively how others can Memories and nightmares invade their sleep And moments that trigger recalls cause them to weep They are misunderstood and taunted as being mad In the streets discarded despite the tours they had Cast out by society, can’t even get work So they roam the streets as perils lurk The number of suicides exceed war casualties Reward for their bravery is now fatalities Even though the problem is ignored by the Such mistreatment of the Vets isn’t going away Some of the soldiers on the outside look strong Don’t look as though they could be anything wrong It’s easy to call them hard back men So easy to overlook that these men are ruin Our society force these men into crime Risking now for food to eat they’re forced to do time Don’t we see the irony of putting them in jail Every one we do is another time we fail Rather than the 40,000 to incarcerate Soldiers can be cared for in society until they rehabilitate |
