A Blessed Easter

Sometimes people tell me that they feel guilty every time they say Happy Easter. They don’t believe that they should wish happiness on a day and time that is and should be solemn. I understand their confusion.  These are usually non Christian would feel that we ought to be mourning the death of our Lord and Savior. Given the circumstances, you can understand why they feel this way. Christ endured all His suffering that we may all have eternal life. It is believed to be the greatest gift of all time. I am overjoyed but I refuse to hold any images of the crucifixion as a reminder.

A Blessed Easter

At this, perhaps the most sacred of the Christian year

Blessed with immortality though commemorative of despair

Lord you forgave us for our iniquities

Erased all our sins and suffered their cruelties

Saved us from our tempestuous way

Showed us to reach the Father, to kneel and pray

Easter is the time we were saved through your suffering

Death on the cross preceded your resurrecting

Early followers would have felt some agony

A convict released in place of someone so Holy

Some of them may have even expected a different finish

They may have anticipated something selfish

Even though we now know the Easter finale

Resurrection of the Holy Spirit still puzzles many
