The News Of A Friend

None of us can see into the heart of the other but sometimes when I write my poetry and read it afterwards, I feel exposed. I feel like people can see into my heart. When I learnt of the passing of my friends’ dad today, I was without words. I had spent the last few days recovering from a real low in my health and had been avoiding emotionally stressful contact. My friend could not have known this since it was a while since we last spoke. But some news you can’t avoid. May the Lord be with my favorite family.

The News Of A Friend

This evening at 6:36 I heard from a friend

Her dad was ailing and had met his final end

Emotionally she told me through obvious tears

No words could express my sorrow, nothing compares

Every memory of him came flooding back to me

When we discussed what promises my future will be

So often we shared similar ideas

Of family, friends and our spiritual ways

For some time we spoke of life’s difficulties

And he pontificated his processes with little ease

Faith in God he said transcends everything

Remember to put God first and you’ll do anything

I loved my friends’ dad in a very special way

Expressed these feelings freely and kept him in pray

Now he is gone I pray for him, God’s promised eternity

Deepest sympathies I extend to my favorite family

To The Elms Family

On the passing of Mr. Elms

May God be with you
