Humility And Patience
You go in wanting
to be fixed right away and then you see others around you looking like they are
so badly off, you don’t mind them going ahead of you. The kind of things I
witnessed were disarming and I come away disappointed that we have to be
subjected to such adversity but happy to see that when it matters most, people
are generally humane

And Patience Hour after
hour and with each one it got worst Unwell
Bajans sought healing but needed to wait first My
experience recently at our A&E Imparted a
lesson in patients and their humility Lots of us
who need the instant fix in our lives In times
when trauma or bad health arrives There is an
unnatural tolerance that we will show You wait
impatiently but more severe cases you let go And through
hours of pain and suffering Never
losing humility for the person who seems dying During the
12 hours before the doctor saw me Patients
came in and were dispatched with priority And all the
while humbled that there was no choice There never
came a time that I protested with voice I saw
patients helping each other, showing they can care Even for a
stranger whose illness they were unaware Noticed
patients full of patience and humility Comfortable
though their surroundings was misery Emergency care
for disease, illness or accidents Can
enlighten you and awaken humility and patience |
