My Pearl

This is my second song, lyrics only, I still have to work on the music, although there is a tune which is coming to me. I wanted to finish a song for this year’s Valentine’s Day, just to test my skills. I know you song writers out there don’t think this much of an accomplishment but for me, wow!  If this mood keeps up I’ll be writing more. By the way, there are many songs out there that may even be worse so considering that I’m a mere infant at song writing, I feel happy to share.

My Pearl

She came up to me

This stunning beauty

And turned my gray skies blue

Calmly we would walk

Even  stopped to talk

Yesterday, from that moment I knew

Chorus

She was going to be my girl

The one who’ll change my world

Cause now I know

Life’s no puppet show

This hobo has found his pearl

She told me then

She’d been crying

Wishing for a lover to come

That of the guys she met

I’m the best one yet

She said I’m the special one

Chorus

We shared love in odd places

Everyday more promises

My most illusive dream was coming true

At night I’ll lay

And to me she’ll say

I love that special thing  you do

Chorus

So then why, tell me why

She never said goodbye

Why am I left sitting here in the dark

I stretched to embrace

But the smile on my face

Was erased, I awoke on a bench in the park

She was my girl

From a fantasy world

And now I know

Life’s a puppet show

This hobo can only dream of his pearl
