Closing The Door Behind You

How do we ring in the New Year? I am disappointed to say that too few of us contemplate on the more important things in our lives. Too many people find it hard to close the door on the things that have become habits in their lives. There is nothing good in habits even though it is go to continue doing good things. Habits are uncontrolled compulsive behaviour and not even your religion should be a habit. The Lord wants you to make a controlled choice with all your daily decisions. Don’t look back, don’t slam it, just close the door.

Closing The Door Behind You

Can you turn away and not look back

Leave old values behind and start a new track

Old things put aside as you start anew

Shut the door close on each old value

Is it possible for you to make

New Year’s resolutions you wouldn’t break

Direction of moral progress

Take a decision to do best and nothing less

Have you stepped away from wrong boldly

Exited it’s grasp for all to see

Do you take a stand to right the wrong

Or do you gingerly bring uncertainties along

Overnight do you plan for the days up ahead

Realize wrong turns and the dead ends they lead

Sift through intricate layers of maps on your way

Believe in your decisions and every word you say

Even when it pains, do you smile and not frown

Hold your head up high, never wearing it down

Incline and not decline in your integrity

Never submitting to an obnoxious  personality

Did you leave the room behind you, close the door

Yearn to go back in, wanting more

Or are you ready for change and will now prepare

Ushering in your steadfastness with this coming New Year

Happy New Year 2008
