Blood Test Today

Okay, this once superhero is now dependent on medication, they say for the rest of my life. That does not necessarily mean that I’ll be taking them long, age has caught up with me. I am now older than my granddad. Today I’m thankful for so many things and I realized the problems that others have, then I realize I haven’t given God thanks for all he has done for me. Where do I begin?

Blood Test Today

Bajans were in their numbers today

Lots were waiting for what the doctor would say

Overcrowding the room and adjoining corridors

Outside the blood clinic where they exchanged horrors

Didn’t hear much, I refused to listen

These strangers chatted till their wait was done

Every time I visit the anticoagulation clinic

Stories of horror visits are shared in it

Time ago I heard of amputees losing the wrong leg

The old cricketer who now walks with a peg

One patient told of the dangerous overdose

Drug prescription miswritten for another sounding close

All I want is hear them say when they call my name

Your INR is good, your dosage remains the same
