Thanks To Those Taking The Time

The out cry from well wishers reached record highs

Heard from many folks with some surprise

All these years of giving yet I never heard

Nothing feels as precious as being remembered

Keeping in touch especially on celebrated days

Sends clear messages that charity pays

This year I heard from people in their homeland

Over in the US, Canada, Germany and England

They all sent their Blessings and wished that I

Have a big share of the righteous pie

One call preceded the others, came on the eve at night

Scheduled surgery may have caused a morrow plight

Early was great cause it extended the time

That I had to live in glory and the sublime

And the morning saw my phone ringing very early

Kept ringing hour after hour repeatedly

I received many calls through the day and evening

Night came and it was time for my gifts opening

Gopher to ease reach and The Simpson’s Operation

To aid in dexterity and general relaxation

How good to the recipient of all your generosity

Enjoy our conversations and relish you remembering me

The phone interrupted my writing, it was an old friend  

I got his belated wishes and at the very end

My thoughts of being remembered brought more joy to me

Euphoric to be remembered by my friends and family
