This Independence

This year will be different for me, but then again all years have been different. This year has its uniqueness and I feel especially blessed.

This Independence

The fondness I have for her is nothing new

Her development I admired as she grew

It’s 41 years now since her birth

She’s given much and demonstrates her worth

I am fortunate that I live right here

Nothing to prevent me from her loving care

Danger may threaten from a foreign shore

Emotions may flare and ill health may soar

Prognoses may come and my life disrupt

Everything is cushioned with her timely interrupt

Nationhood is more than a place to stay

Distinctive boundaries and our anthem’s cliché

Every individual must strive to play a part that’s good

Neighbors building a harmonious neighborhood

Come this independence I’ll celebrate and wish in bliss

Each day in our future be even happier than this
