She's Proud To Be Bajan

I can’t boast a friendship, I only knew her casually. Over the years I admired her dog, home, family and now her talent. I was pleased to have met her brother, who, unknown to him, inspired me to do better in academics. I later met her mom on the beach; we shared the same spot for over a year. I finally met Alison. She was a refreshing surprise. Popularity didn’t leave her swell headed. The following was inspired from a piece done by Sherie Holder from the Easy Magazine dated Nov 11 2007 in the Nation News paper.

Proud She’s Bajan

A Long time ago I used to walk by

Lovely house on my way home where an Alsatian lie

In the drive way and would rush to the gate

Snarled and barked then run over to wait

On the other side where I had to pass

No dog was as beautiful, none could surpass

She guarded the home of her family

Eventually I learnt if was the family Sealy

Alison, her parents, her sister and brother

Living harmoniously with each other

You could easily envy the way they lived

So together, so happy and friendly smiles they gave

My admiration continued for many years

I pass just to see the joy this family shares

Then I met her brother in a cadet camp

His manner was impeccable he behaved like a champ

Boyish boastfulness but he was never overdone

And had ambitions when the other boys had none

Just a few years later we learnt that Alison went away

A passion compelled that she become an actress one day

Now it’s obvious she did but why would she

laceName w:st="on">QueenlaceName> laceType w:st="on">CollegelaceType> scholars have more traditional destiny

Uniquely she stuck to her guns and with little fuss

Exuded the strong foundation she got in Barbados

Education which taught her how to analyze

No University did more than Gloria Cummins did advise

On stage her talents took a great leap forward

Four Dora nominations in total and a winning award

The Bajans saw her playing various screen parts

Her ambition was realized, she’d perfected the arts

Every Bajan now celebrates this daughter of our soil

She unlike other Bajan Scholars opted for stage toil

This competitive life she embraced and now willingly

Alison returns to Barbados to share the artistry

Got chatting with her on the beach and she’s genuine I know

Everything I imagined as I past by her home, many years ago
