Remembrance Day

I have mix feeling about war time. I know the importance of wars pass but when I watch how wars now develop and why, I feel as though there must be a better way to resolve our problems.

Remembrance Day

Ridge was to my left a valley on the right

Enemy vehicles patrolled all night

My platoon had covered 25 miles that day

Everyone was tired but we couldn’t stay

Military life was really hard back then

Boys we came in but we left as men

Recruited because war was declared

And left when we weren’t yet mentally prepared

None of us had seen this devastation before

Couldn’t imagine what life was like for the corps

Everyday I was there, I watch friends died

Death came to many of them and today I cried

A bomb exploded by us just before the war would end

Years still haven’t erased the pain of losing my best friend
