Jonah's Disobedience of the Lord

Jonah fleeing from the Lord brought immediate danger on those around him. But there was some good. The sailors may have had other gods prior, but realizing the power of Jonah’s God, vowed afterwards to worship Him. Jonah was saved from and later went on to convert the entire city of Nineveh. Sometimes we may run from task that may seem to us overwhelming. God speaks to us about, and although we may turn away with our doubts, we may give in and discover that the task was more easily accomplished than we had expected. When God works with us, His vessels, He inspires our thoughts and our deeds. His presence cleanses our spirit and elevates it to a higher level, closer to God. There is everything to gain from accepting to carry out  God’s commands.

Jonah’s Disobedience of The Lord

Jonah “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city,”

Out cry against it, “for their wickedness has come up before Me.”

Nineveh was greatly sinful and scared to the task Jonah did flee

Arrived in Joppa and found a ship by the sea

He paid for passage to Tarshish then the winds grew

Stormy winds that scared the entire crew

Dangerous were these winds so to their gods they prayed

Into the lowest parts of the ship Jonah slept where he laid

So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, sleeper?

Our ship need your prays, then they cast lots with each other

By the draw Jonah lost and suggested to the crew

Everyone must pick him up and throw him overboard they must do

Deciding no they rowed with greater fuss

In vain they tried, the sea got more tempestuous

Everything failed so begging forgiveness of the Lord

No one dissented this time, they threw Jonah overboard

Calm came to the raging sea immediately

Everything ceased Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly

Our LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah up

For three days and three nights Jonah didn’t have sup

There he repented from inside the fish’s belly

He prayed forgiveness to the Lord that he hid disobediently

Expelled from the stomach, the fish vomited him on dry land

Lord, he said I’ll do as you command

Overtime all men, king and pauper turned from the evil way

Repented and God relented and answered their pray

Disaster would have come to this city if they didn’t submit

God would have destroyed them but He no longer had to do it.
