Dangerous Shoes

There are so many things these holes can do

Holes I wore into the bottom of my shoe

Every time I put my left shoe on

Heel is exposed, slightly touching the ground

On mornings my shoe picks up pebbles off the road

Labouringly I’ll walk with a my sticking load

Each step in the rain slick road will wet my heel

Sole shifts around and there’s an occasional squeal

I anticipate most of these morning quirks

No immediate shoe change, I thought this pair works

My balance slipped because of this hole in my shoe

You’d be surprise at the danger this hole could do

Showering this morning I noticed my heel was dirty

Had to brush it away while my elbow balanced me

Only I slipped and almost experience a damaging toll

Exposed to grave dangers because of this small hole
