A Pink Ribbon For Love

The pink ribbon is a show of support in the fight against breast cancer. It is the ribbon of love. There is life after breast cancer. We can ensure this by being more vigilant. The earlier we detect breast cancer, the less invasive its intrusion and the more effective the treatment.

A Pink Ribbon For Love

A small lump appeared during a loving caress

Panic ensued; I could no longer touch her breast

It was an unbearable thought; that dreaded big C

Now might take her life away from me

Kisses brought tears and soon a biopsy too

Results confirmed what we already knew

In her young life her mother had died

Breast cancer took her and I watch how my wife cried

Because of this we had been proactive all the while

Only genetics negated our changed in lifestyle

Never was there a chance, we just delayed what would be

Fat free, no alcohol, lots of exercise and mammograms routinely

Our days got edgy when she started the chemo

Radiation therapy brought her to the lowest low

Long days and months and even longer years

Overcame the cancer and dried the tears

Victory came because of our early detection

Ecstasy returned, I didn’t lose her to that cancerous intrusion
