The Scavenging Soul

I no longer scorn the unfortunate souls who scavenge. In fact, although I don’t envy them and wish to be like them, I give them more respect for the peacefulness that seems to follow them that what follows the wealthy. When I follow the news of celebrities, I see lost souls who can’t find their way home. I never see the scavengers as lost souls.

The Scavenging Souls

The many times we pass them in a Garbage bin

Having a frantic search for any treasures within

Every time we frown at them and shorten our nose

Sending messages that their actions we oppose

Countless times disapprovingly walking away

And never chancing a sympathetic word to say

Virtually walking on the other side

Evading eye contact, wishing to hide

Never thinking of the Samaritan who had done much more

Giving no thought of Lazarus an the rich man’s floor

Imagine if these scavengers are the poor in spirit

Named to one day the laceType w:st="on">KingdomlaceType> of laceName w:st="on">HeavenlaceName> inherit

God may have given then His approving smiles

So how come we can’t do the same for just a while

Or are we still too proud in our Christian lives

Unable to stop and empathize

Looking on at them, walking away with disdain

Scavenging Souls have little impact and mean nothing
