You Can't.....

My Friend celebrates another Birthday Today. I’m not even sure where he is and how well he is doing, I just wish he is well and that God continues to shower him with His glory. I owe much to this friend and his family. They were my first exposure to a world outside of my family and they were the perfect example. Many of my life’s lessons started with them. Now when I reflect on them, I realize that I am the person that I am because of the early lessons I learned from them, and especially my friend who stood by me from when we first met at that bus stop. I ‘m glad we became friends.

You Can’t…..

My life was blessed with a boyhood friend

Years together with harmonious blend

Blessed from the day he started teaching me

Out of mere kindness and charity

You Can’t cross the road to take a bus over there

How come I asked, they have more than we do here

On bob a job days You Can’t appear like a softy

Or people would want to pay you unfair money

Don’t you know You Can’t were applets, socks and still a tie

First day at school many did but he made sure not I

Ralph always said You Can’t crunch over

I learnt walking was the exercise to give me power

Every day was a learning experience he shared

Never did he look for recovery, he just genuinely cared

Don’t, he said, You Can’t just run with the ball

Read the hockey field, predict every players call

And You Can’t serve a tennis ball without the spin

Let the players guest what the ball  is doing

People say You Can’t succeed when you failed a test

He taught me new direction on the road to success

Hide and cry and hide and pray, You Can’t publicly

Open your soul for all the onlookers to see

Lessons he taught me growing up together

Developed my overall strength of character

Ever little suggestion led to my changed way

Ralph has a new path now but I wish him a Happy Birthday!

Best wished to Ralph Holder
