My Feathered Friends

Recently on the news there was talk of, first a cat then a dog, both always right in predicting the final hours of a persons life. Before this I followed the many rescues performed by animals. Even here locally people have expressed their sentiments to pet behavior bordering on miraculous but definitely in the incredible. I wanted to do a study of animal psychology because of the closeness I always had with animals and the marvels in their behavior. Alas, no study is necessary; I believe that closer observation of the animals will reveal the glories they bring.

My Feathered Friends

My sister told me look deeper to find

Yesterday’s attack may be a blessing of a kind

Feathered black villains swooping from the skies

Each one could be bearing blessings in disguise

And I thought of its authenticity

These pecks frightened but never hurt me

How come they chose me, venturing so near

Egging me on with no apparent fear

Really only meaning to say hello

Eager to deliver a message they wanted me to know

Days past, years gone, now I finally understand

Found a revelation after they touched my right hand

Remembering my previous night in paralyzing pain

I hoped that walk would make my hand better again

Every since I was a boy I interpreted them wrong

Now I believe my feathered friends offer more than a song

Delightful whistles and chirps are their gestures to me

Signaling their delivery of Divine homeopathy
