Domestic Violence

It has become apparent that so many of us are affected by Domestic Violence, either directly or indirectly. One sure way not to handle it is pretending like it doesn’t happen. When ever there is abuse you should discuss it.

Domestic Violence

David was really good with his kids

Occasionally allowing things his wife forbids

My neighbors were closed in and would privately

Exchange harsh words sometimes aggressively

Sounds were unmistaken, cries came from their room

Their walls muffled these cries of gloom

In the quiet of days or the still of the nights

Clashes would turn into violent fights

Violent enough to cause them repeated shame

In the middle of the night police regularly came

Oddly we never questioned and sometimes we’d pretend

Looking away when we cross the wife, not wanting to offend

Every time she smiled like she loved the blows

No one understood and only God knows

Cause when David stumbled out and from his hands blood dripping

Ester was dead, he could no longer take her violent beating
