Cutting Out This Risk (2)

I started writing this poem and got so emotional; it was difficult to finish it. Over these last 3 years I have had more than 6 of my friends who were primigravida., at least two having caesarian sections. The more I investigate the less necessary these operations seem. The unnecessary risk patients are placed under because doctors want to speed up the process, go on vacation or tip their financial scale should be criminal. We should take greater action to cut out this risk. Or is it that these doctors see the babies as the risk and that they are already cutting out this risk

Cutting Out This Risk

Caesarian section is the method they still teach

Uterine intrusion by abdominal incision releasing babies in breach

This procedure sounds barbaric when we take this route

Taking a baby from its mom by cutting it out

I was crestfallen when I learnt of a young lady’s demise

Never waking from her sleep, never opening her eyes

Got ill weeks after the baby was cut from her womb

Opening the doors that led to her early tomb

Ugly opening not healing, across her belly

Threatening and painful and had become smelly

This lady took lots of pride in her outward show

Her scarring would have been a heavy blow

It may have changed the way she would dress

Such things now seem trivial with her negative progress

Rudiments in health care should always be

Involve with the total care of patients and especially

Should never be hasty to make the incision

Keep closer watch on patients when we make this decision
