The Flower's Beauty and Tree's Strength

When I was very young I was in love with nature. It may have originally stemmed from singing that song “All in the woods”. I grew up and later heard another compelling song, “ A Tree” sung by Mario Lanza. The first lines respectively were

“ All in the woods there grew a tree

The finest tree you ever did see”

and

“I think that I would never see

A poem lovely as a tree

A tree that looks at God all day

And lifts its leafy arms to pray”

You can understand my fixation on trees and nature. The more natural a thing is the lovelier I perceived it. Then along came my friends’ mother. This lady is special back to her name. She was destined by God’s grace to be His consul. My friends’ mother has the combined names of a beautiful flower and a strong tree and lives up to their characteristics.

The Flower’s Beauty and Tree’s Strength

All in the woods they grew a tree

No other had its flora or variety

The 9 leafy arms it lifted to the sky

Heralded the praises of our God on high

Inviting all around under her canopy

Always protecting those in close proximity

Equal to this tree and in every way

Lives a lady who in earnest pray

Mothered 9 kids and faithfully raised them

Steadfastly in God’s graces like that great old Elm.

For Anthia Elms

Have a Happy Birthday!
