These are the Grand Kadooment Bands of 2007 showing their themes and the order in which they performed. I tried to include all their themes in my next poem. You may not agree with everything I said here, actually, I’m not sure I agree with everything either. But generally, here is how I feel.

Grand Kadooment Bands

We is Bajan not The Lost Tribe

Euphoria of Mix Blessings

From Slavery to Emancipation we scribed

Eons in history with proud dressings

Showing Yuh True Colours is what we’re about

The Deep truths of our Rhythm Nation

It’s not a wanton boast or idle clout

Vibrations from our people’s Mas Explosion

A people rich in talent, now fame

Lyricists, singers and sportsmen

Such people now on top of their game

They live the lives others only Imagine

Respect comes from far off lands

In plenty and in time of need

Countries investing in our local brands

They see the value of our breed

Les Gens du monde the French may say

Yearn to be like us

Making the best of our worst day

It happen in Barbados

Neighboring islands will get an education

If they stick to their guns then they too

May be Celebrating 25 Years of being in operation

It’s much easier than you’d think to do

Zestful people show it best

Encouragement nourishes the dream

Daybreaks, Morning Come bringing a day to invest

Their ideas and their well thought out scheme

Our nation offers the chance to grow

So Different Races of people who came to the Caribbean

Organized their lives here long, long ago

Kept Community Playerz meshed in our local scene

And they developed the Splash Barbados of today

Junkies, jokers and judges not worth their Salt

Unable to discern what’s the right way

Nise and Tasty should be the default

Kaiso delivers Crop Over on a Platter

Ignition to X-ploshun

Entertainers are doing the things that matter

So why aren’t we proud to say We is Bajan
